January 24: Beer Can Appreciation Day. This day originated when the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company decided to offer their beer in a can. They marketed it as Krueger’s Finest Beer… in a can! So enjoy this day with a refreshing beer, of course, in a cool looking can.
Shawshank Redemption: In this movie, the “containers” the prisoners were drinking from on the roof were wrong. Instead of using bottles, they used cans, but beer wasn’t “canned” until years later.
Bees/Wasps: Insects that love beer. These pests are always impossible to get rid of, especially when you are outside. To combat them, pop open a few beers, drink half the cans, and place them around the perimeter of where you are sitting. It will definitely keep them occupied (but you’ll have to sacrifice some beer for the remedy).
Mesopotamia: This ancient country – modern-day Iraq – had rough rules surrounding beer. If tavern owners were found guilty of overcharging patrons for beers, they were put to death by drowning. Customer service must have been pretty good back then.
Fire extinguisher: What a beer can mimic if you don’t have one handy. Although certainly not as effective as a real fire extinguisher, a can or bottle of beer can be a quick substitute if none is available. Simply shake and spritz. After all, beer is mostly water. This works on small grill flare-ups, and some people have been known to carry an emergency can in their car in case of an engine fire. Or at least that's what they tell the state troopers.
